"Assault on New Olympus" hits its second chapter:
- Athena say Cho is going to be the new Prince of Power, which unfortunately means that Hercules is going to be killed, because for some cosmic reason there can't be more than one of them at a time.
- Plot device alert: Cho gives Hercules some of the water of the Lethe, which can be used to mindwipe an enemy.
- Through a double-Trojan (I assume Cho got the idea from watching Ocean's 11), the strike force breaks into the Olympus Group, and is confronted by Hera and her army of gods and monsters (Typhon, Huntsman, Delphyne and the Amazons, Argus, a bunch of other nasties). Fight ensues.
- However, Ares won't be taking part, because Athena sent Aphrodite to intercept him at the Avengers Tower and have hot sex to distract him (in exchange, Athena gave her some kind of information about the AoA).
- As the battle rages, Thanatos, the God of Death, appears to proclaim that somone will die.
- In the backup, Phorcys just sort of leaves after Venus snaps out of his spell, remarking that times really are changing. The Agents jet off to New York to confront Aphrodite, but as they enter the Olympus Group building they're confronted by a bunch of guardian beasts.
-------
A good second issue. I like the bits with Herc and Hebe, and Hebe trying to ingratiate herself with Cho (who she sees as being like his surrogate son), though based on this I still have her marked down to get offed at some point in this (though based on her powers that would be fairly difficult).
Athena's means of neutralizing Ares was hilarious.
The Agents backup continues to be okay, though it's hard to really get into a story in such a short space, particularly a multi-parter.
